THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY – MOVING AWAY FROM MAKE-TAKE-DISPOSE
The switch to a circular reduce-reuse-recycle model is well underway at Armacell. We are also improving our operational excellence, e.g., by closing the loop in polyethylene (PE) production through reusing internal production scrap. At the same time, we are working to expand recycling beyond PE to the more challenging parts of our portfolio.
Our planet is drowning in plastic pollution.
Worldwide, over a million plastic drinking bottles are bought every minute, and most are thrown away or end up in landfills. ArmaPET is helping to mitigate the plastic waste problem by giving billions of waste plastic bottles a new life through rPET, our unique recycled PET foam technology. We are innovating to boost sustainability and working towards a circular model. Reusing our plastic waste is one way to improve our environmental footprint, and we have processed 2.5 billion PET bottles in this way since 2010.
Another approach we are focusing on is design-for-recyclability. Together with the converters, distributors, and installers we are searching for solutions to minimise waste and pollution while keeping materials in use for a longer period of time.
