Armacell - Armaflex In Concrete /

Armaflex In Concrete
The chemicals normally present in wet concrete will not have any adverse effect on Armaflex flexible thermal insulation or the adhesive joins.

  • It will however be necessary to install the Armaflex in such a way that the material is not crushed, particularly by concrete in the wet state.

  • Armaflex should be installed strictly in accordance with the recommendations of the » Armaflex Installation Manual from Armacell and other technical literature published by Armacell UK Ltd.

  • To ensure that the Armaflex is not crushed we recommend either:

    (a) The concrete is poured so that the Armaflex is only just covered by no more than about 25 mm thickness of concrete. This is allowed to set and further concrete is then poured to give the desired concrete thickness.
    (b) The Armaflex is protected by a rigid outer pipe or covering so that the weight of the concrete is not acting on the Armaflex while the concrete is in the wet state.

  • Where Armaflex is crushed it is unlikely to damage the material unless the crushing is severe. However the effect of reducing the thickness of material will be to lower insulating efficiency leading to increased heat losses.
