Industrial process applications work at high pressures, with gases and liquids moving at high temperatures and flow rates causing vibrations and often dangerous noise levels for operations personnel. Acoustic insulation and standards such as ISO 15665 have therefore been developed for process pipe work with two main objectives:


  • to protect the safety of personnel working close by and
  • to reduce noise pollution in the surrounding environment

The Armacell Engineered Systems division provides high performance acoustic and thermal insulation foams for onshore and offshore petrochemical environments.

The multi-layer systems of Armaflex (LT/Armaflex Industrial, HT/Armaflex Industrial, HT/Armaflex Industrial IMO and Armaflex LTD), ArmaSound RD 240 and Arma-Chek R covering (or metal cladding option also available) reduce the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI) and provides exceptional noise reduction while minimising total system weight and thickness:

  • Combined thermal and acoustic properties
  • Closed cell Armaflex provides an integral vapour barrier to provide long-term thermal efficiency
  • Reduced risk of galvanic corrosion and fewer health and safety risks when non-metallic covering used
  • Resistant to UV, oil, chemical and weathering damage
  • Considerably reduced installation and maintenance costs
  • Meets ISO 15665 Class A to Class C, Class D according to Shell DEP Spec. No.31
  • Meets NORSOK standard R-004 Class 6, 7 and 8
  • Meets ASTM E 1222
