Preserving and enhancing the quality of the environment around us is an essential part of any modern business. This has been an integral part of Armacell business strategy and a key pillar behind Armacell’s corporate philosophy. All Armacell employees worldwide are aware of this commitment and share common goals.
To use resources as efficiently as possible, Armacell is constantly searching for ways to reduce raw material use, energy consumption and the waste rate. Intelligent recycling systems are developed for utilizing production waste which occurs. At all locations, environmental awareness linked to occupational safety, product stewardship and corporate citizenship is integrated into the business processes.
As a company Armacell has made a conscious decision to only manufacture products in a way which minimises environmental impact. In 1989, the company was the first producer of technical insulation worldwide to abstain from using CFCs, long before this was made mandatory by the Montreal Protocol.
Since the end of the nineties, the company has increasingly concentrated on the environmental impact of its products. Armacell is a founder member of the European Alliance for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EuroACE), which was formed by the European Commission after the world climate summit in Kyoto and promotes proposed legislation on energy saving in buildings.
More emphasis has also been placed on the social dimension of sustainability in supporting local community projects. Armacell joined the UN initiative Global Compact, the world’s most important business network for sustainable globalisation.
